it's somewhat difficult to pick a single photo of hattie to post on the blog because i've gotten so many great shots of her since being here. she's a real natural in front of the camera, and her big eyes make almost any photo pretty striking. on tuesday evening we walked down to the park where she and her little brother eli climbed all over while i took pictures.
...
we spent most of the day yesterday walking around the colorado springs zoo with the kids and jake's parents. it's a pretty impressive zoo, especially this new african safari section they have. i don't think i've ever seen so many giraffe's in one place. i'll try to post a photo from there later.
in the afternoon we sat over at rockledge inn, the B&B that jake's parents own. i had a very interesing conversation with jake's dad about his vision for the inn and the property. he'd like to get a l'abri style community started there with a handful of students working on the B&B in the morning and studying in the afternoon. the property seems really ideal for his plans and it will be interesting to see how they materialize.
last night we took it pretty easy here at the house, and i got caught up on the sopranos (wow) while the stuarts got family portraits made. today we're headed in to check out downtown colorado springs.
isn't the zoo there built into the side of cheyenne mtn.? i just rememer walking uphill a lot. and that it made you almost at eye level to feed the giraffes those wafer things. am i crazy? wait, don't answer.
Posted by: anna at May 27, 2004 01:24 PM also andy,
you go to co and make friends with people named 'panties' and 'golfguy'. highly disapointed.
yup, that's the zoo. on cheyenne mountain, just below NORAD. and yes, we did feed the giraffes those cracker things... i never knew they had such long tongues, though i suppose it makes sense.
Posted by: andy at May 27, 2004 02:53 PMYou never fed the giraffes at Silver Springs? Florida is wasted on the Floridians.
Posted by: mesh at May 27, 2004 03:40 PMAndy, your photos are usually pretty good stuff, but today's is pretty dang amazing.
Posted by: crabby at May 27, 2004 10:15 PMRando! The amazing Rando! Damon wants to know when you will be back. Like, will you be back by Sunday?
Posted by: Alli at May 27, 2004 10:17 PMI miss Hattie. And this shot makes me realize all the more that Jake needs a smack upside the head for neglecting his family site.
Posted by: bobw at May 28, 2004 09:16 AMWhat they really need to do is a combination theme park with the Giraffe's from the zoo and NORAD, in fact, they could call is NORGD for "North american Giraffe Defense" and they could paint the giraffe's camo green, that would be cool. Mebbe I just like saying "NORGD"...
