travel day

this morning i scrambled out of bed a bit late and tim dropped me at the downtown marta station where i caught a train to the atlanta airport. security is still pretty tight down there, even at 8 in the morning, and i arrived at my gate only 10 minutes before scheduled take-off. granted, we sat on the runway for nearly an hour, but once we got in the air the trip was quick and painless.

i have a feeling that my fellow passengers must have thought me a little strange as i was continually shooting photos out the window. my row was empty however, so its not like i was leaning over anyone's lap, or shoving a zoomlens in their face. i did however get some pretty great shots of cloud formations. i think they're best right after you take off and you catch the roof of the first layer of clouds. this one looked a bit like a raging sea with some mythical beast rearing its head.

we touched down right on time, and i've been with the stuarts all afternoon. i toured the house just after arriving and then read to hattie before she went down for her afternoon nap. since then i've been playing catchup on some work for coptix. its just like old times programming across the room from jake.

i always forget how much i love colorado, and even when i do think of it, i often only think of its snowier climes. its truly amazing in the spring though. on our ride back today i couldn't take my eyes off the landscape around us - its so open and clear. clear is the word that keeps coming to mind as i walk around here. its like everywhere else is a little out of focus, and i never notice it until i'm here. and then it feels like someone tweaked the focus and suddenly everything seems crisp and sharp. its hard to explain, but it makes me just want to sit outside and breathe deeply.

well, elk steaks and homemade french-fries are on the menu for dinner, and i've been in front of a computer for far too long on a vacation day, so, until tomorrow...

Sounds great Andy!! Your description is spoken like a true photographer. I'd probably describe it totally different. Enjoy the low humidity.

here's the latest:
brady just got out of surgery. everything is fine but unimaginably painful. that was actually the first thing he said, 'wow, this hurts'. he'll be in the hospital another two weeks. anyone interested in coming to see him should back their plans up a couple of weeks. the hospital is flooded (the other day he had thirty visitors). and then once he gets home to his parent's there's going to be that whole scary transition into a wheel chair and away from around the clock care. just a suggestion. from what i can see he wants to encourage and love people and hear about what's going on around town, but what he needs is rest. rest. and more rest. he sends everyone his love and thanks and asks for more prayers.
