this is a shot from isaac and the totten brothers show on friday night at the vineyard. i'm still figuring out all the settings with the new camera, and i'm wondering if i could have improved the light quality for this photo. the lighting on the musicians was very red, but here it has an almost hellish feel to it.

last night we saw crimson gold, the current film in the bijou film series, and i have to say i found it less than engaging. granted, the iranian films i've seen up to this point have all had a fairly slow paced, almost plodding feel to them, and crimson gold is no different. while i typically enjoy more slow paced films, in this case there just wasn't enough emotional involvement to go on. its largely a class struggle film, but i felt the tension was revealed in the first few minutes and then dragged out for an hour and a half.
in other news: today is my brother tim's birthday! those of you who know him might drop a line... a few of us are hoping to go spend an evening with him and ari down in atlanta this weekend to celebrate.
I like the picture, Andy. It is a little red... but it looks cool. Issac's mouth is enormous!

If it's raining when your in Midtown this weekend be sure to ge the $1 pints at The Park Tavern right on Piedmont Park. They brew some pretty good ales. We spent many a rainy day there with Josh and Linda Green when they lived in Midtown.
It's Wardellboy!
Posted by: mesh at April 6, 2004 12:57 PMandyp, thanks for the pub recommendation. i think i've actually put away a few rainy-day pints there myself with the greens, and couldn't remember the name.
Posted by: andy at April 6, 2004 02:18 PMIt had a hellish feel to me to.
Posted by: john totten at April 6, 2004 02:50 PMandy, the place i was trying to remember the other night was '5 seasons' (http://www.ratebeer.com/ShowPlace.asp?PlaceID=184). maybe some of the atlantonians (andyp?) can tell you whether it's worth the trip...
i'm envious, as usual, of your getting to see tim and ari so regularly - and for his b'day, no less.
It feels so good to see the head of my bass peaking into a great photo. Riminds of the 1999 Covenant yearbook. Check the spring banquet page. With the band fronted by Jason Trimiew. See the bass of a young John poking into that one too. I may be the most documented non Covenant student in Covenant records. We won't talk about the other ones.
Posted by: john totten at April 6, 2004 03:52 PMOr, more to the point, you have the most-documented non-Covenant bass head in Covenant records.
"Bass Head" would be a good name for a rockabilly band. Bass could be pronounced however you felt like it on any given night.
Posted by: mesh at April 6, 2004 04:58 PMandy, i was at your 'rents house a couple of days ago and they took me on a spin through your blog, highlighting their favorite pics. and i must say i am very impressed...absolutely beautiful photography. so on that buttered up note, i'm looking for a picture of ari and was wondering if you have any on file somewhere.
Posted by: megan at April 6, 2004 06:17 PMI got an art show you can hit on your way to see Tim! Kennesaw Community Center in downtown Kennesaw! Friday 7-9pm. I only won a lousy ribbon but it might be interesting! Drop me a line if ya want!
