kermit the backdrop

lang martin is a hero. yesterday i brought in that broken flash card with all the gobbledygoo on it and, aside from finding a number of I/O errors, he turned out a handful of useful pictures; one of which was the aforementioned kermit-the-frog-green laundry room portrait. charity got to pick the color for this room, which lang was a little hesitant about, but as the night wore on he started to come around. i think this may be one of my favorite pictures of them.

...

last night i finished watching splendor in the grass. i can't remember who recommended this film to me; it must have been ari, or cannon, or maybe it was netflix. either way, the reason it was recommended was its similarity to one of my favorite films all the real girls -- which it was similar to, almost painfully so: young love, sexual tension, and the disillusionment inherent in the title taken from the wordsworth poem:

Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind.

other interesting tidbits: its warren beatty's first film, and its the directed by the same guy who did on the waterfront, elia kazan, who passed away this year and was remembered at the oscars.

andy, you remember jim, the waiter (and my erstwhile co-worker) at southside grill? this was his favorite movie ever, and he was always telling me to rent it. it's been on my list ever since. maybe now i have the last little nudge i need to actually watch it...

Note to Char and Lang--
I love the picture AND the color. Though I must say, judging by the amount of pain on the rollers, it looks like Charity might be doing a little bit more of the work. . . Just a little observation.

I think if Lang has less paint on his roller, that means his paint is on the wall, which means that he has been doing more of getting his paint on the wall, so maybe he has done more work. If you wanna talk about it Lang and Char, I'm here for you, its not easy being green.

John, John, John,

I think was Niki meant to point out was, Not that Lang has less paint on his roller, but that he has NO paint on his roller... Just want to clarify.

I'd like John Totten to get some paint on MY roller!

...I don't even know what that means...

So painfully similary, does that mean you liked it or not? It was I who meantioned it being compared, in an article, with All the Real Girls and In the Mood for Love.

How much photoshop did you do to this picture...it's beautiful with lang's white shirt, roller, and corner of the picture. With of-course the stricking contrast of charity's red shirt

painfully similar in that the pain i felt at watching young lovers become disillusioned was the same in both films. and yes, i liked it quite a lot. it deals with issues that are usually unfamiliar in films of the early sixties, but then, that director elia kazan seems to enjoy that.

about the photo, i don't think i really altered it that much with photoshop. i may have adjusted the light levels a bit, but i have to do that with most photos taken with my old digital camera, and i ran a sharpen filter on it to compensate for the low-light. the colors are pretty authentic - it really is a kermit-the-frog-green room...

That's the same color as Josiah's room. The exact color name for his room is "Lime Glow". American Tradition Paint from Lowe's. Beautiful green.

Is it possible to have too many Josiah's? I'm gonna need to look into that...

I'm a huge Kazan fan. Every one of his films that I've seen is fantastic.
