gainesville high school

more surrealism today... i was out doing some last minute christmas shopping when i drove by my old high school, gainesville high school. i started to pull into the senior parking lot - thought i'd take a picture of the sign for the blog - and before i knew it, i was wandering the old halls. i started thinking about it, and i realized that the last time i'd walked those halls was my last day of high school... in 1995. the weird thing is how little its changed. yes, some places have been repainted, and there's a couple new buildings, and the dining room has all new tables, but overall, it feels no different from the day that i left. and what surprised me most was how immediate it all seemed - i could hardly believe that almost nine years have passed. the one major difference appears to be faculty. i walked by all my favorite teacher's classrooms and it appears they've all moved on, or graduated to bigger and better rooms. perhaps they've retired - they did all seem pretty ancient when i was 18 years old.

well, tomorrow is christmas. i haven't wrapped a thing, and i'm headed out to have a beer with mike humphries. looks like its going to be a long night...

Andy
I really resent what you said about Mesh's party.
I'm not Jewish. If Jewish law says that your Jewish if your mother is, and I don't observe Jewish law- then I'm not Jewish. So there. Merry Christmas, the only December holiday I reconize.

That had to be, well, very bizarre.

I'd love to go back to my highschool and wander the halls, unfortunately it still has the same principal and I'd have to talk to people instead of getting to wander all quiet and introspective.

I just realized my youngest sister is going to be a freshman in college next year.

I currently attend Gainesville High School, and while I'm not in love with Gainesville, I am with the school. I love anything old, it tends to have character. I'm glad to hear that not much has changed, hopefully things will stay somewhat the same in the years to come.
