ft. benning

mesh, lang and the fam, and i all drove down to ft. benning, GA on wednesday and thursday to see chip millette graduate from boot camp. all of you who know chip can imagine what a strange experience this must have been. chip, of covenant literati fame, takes on the US army. i was afraid that 10 weeks without bloom might break him, but he seems happier and healthier than ever.

he got to leave base for the first time in 10 weeks. his first stop? books-a-million naturally; to pick up a copy of macbeth to satisfy a bet with a fellow cadet. evidently Macduff killed Macbeth, not Macbeth...

well, well. is it well. it is well. i reply to ft. benning because it is the last entry. just found you here, cleaning out the inbox at work so as not to leave a scrap of the personal, you know that self-effacing drive. for pertinence sake (or im-) i once met harold bloom. dastardly pretentious, but endearing - interesting dichotomy. very large man. he wouldn't make it in the army. i think i would do well in a military life. mi and i might convert to the logistical side of tibetan buddhism - the amount of drite (from the old norse) in the APT has made me rekindle that old love affair with minimalism. and we all know there are far more difficult things to love than abstract ideas. coldplay for instance. but we press on, we press on.
