I suppose I ought to thank my good friend Josiah (who apparently just killed his fiance's dog) for helping me get this thing setup. Although, I'm still not convinced of the need for a weblog in my life. As it is, I feel like I have enough trouble keeping up with my friends in the "real world" much less all the friends I try to keep in touch with via email. In a way, I have to wonder if this whole weblog phenomenon isn't something of a cop-out when it comes to having real relationships with people. That is, why would I express myself to those around me when I have all these wonderful blogbuddies that are happy to read and comment on my ruminations.
Seems this might make for reentry problems. (See Walker Percy's Lost in the Cosmos, ch. 14 "The Orbiting Self: Reentry Problems of the Transcending Self, or Why it is that Artists and Writers, some Technologists, and indeed Most People have so much Trouble Living in the Ordinary World" and/or read this article for an explanation of this term).
Posted by andy at March 28, 2003 05:55 PMDamn yo, you's so well read. I've got a re-entry issue for you right here. Seriously though, I'm glad you're blogging. Its nice just to have a record of something somewhere. Heck, I always wanted to have a journal for my kids or grandkids to one day discovered buried in a box in the attic after I die, and I figure heck, in a digital world why not take it there? Maybe they can discover it on an old hard-drive or something.
